🇫🇷France brings home the last of its gold from the U.S. and now keeps all reserves in Paris. France’s central bank has repatriated the last portion of its gold that was stored in the United States, ending decades of holding part of its reserves at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.  The operation involved about 129 tons of gold — roughly 5% of France’s total reserves. Instead of physically transporting the old bars, the Bank of France sold them in the U.S. and purchased new gold bars in Europe that meet modern international standards, which are now stored in Paris.  Due to rising gold prices, the move generated around €12.8–13 billion ($15 billion) in profit for the central bank while keeping the country’s total gold reserves unchanged at about 2,437 tons.
