Later the school shut down and we were told he was gone. Every day I’ve wondered if I could have changed anything 🥺 I’ve come to peace knowing I was a good part of his life in his storm 😌 Almost 30 years later here I am on social media. Just a regular guy trying to give people a good moment in their storms. Trying to help people smile and look toward something better. Two days ago I got a message that someone needed help. It was a goodbye message. I stayed with her, kept her talking, called for a welfare check and they saved her ❤️ We haven’t talked since. She is in the hospital. I don’t know how she feels. She may never talk to me again but that does not matter. They saved her 🙏🏻❤️ Then that same night I got another message… Yesterday morning I woke up to someone saying they needed help at 1am. I took it seriously and responded only to find out she was just being dramatic and wanted attention. No accountability. She said it was not a big deal and tried to tell me I was being too sensitive. Then made it all about how she helps people. I even explained why that message matters and that I had just helped save someone’s life. She did not acknowledge it at all. Just kept talking about herself. Disgusting behavior. She has zero access to me now 😵‍💫 We are NOT normalizing vague late night messages like “I need help” for attention. There are people who truly need help in those moments. Using fear for attention is emotional abuse. 😡 I am not a therapist. I am not a provider. I am just someone who cares and tries to show people we can get through hard days.
